Please join us in congratulating the Mensch of the Months of November and December 2016!

November:

Sixth Grade

Ellie Uher always has a fun joke to share and loves to make people laugh. She is a loyal friend who works hard to cheer people up when they are sad. Ellie helps her classmates study for tests, quizzes, and helps with Hebrew homework. Ellie has an attitude of gratitude and takes nothing for granted, especially her friendships. She notices when other people are mensches and takes the time to fill out Mensch of the Month cards. She wrote cards for every single girl in the 6th grade to give them on Yom Kippur. Ellie also leads by example. She is on task during class and sets the bar high for her classmates. Ellie is a mensch!

Seventh Grade

Michael Karpov- Michael is one of those quiet mensches who sometimes flies off the radar, but Michael is always helpful to others in his class. Before he begins his own work, he makes sure that certain students know how to complete an assignment and his patience is admirable. He gives up his own time to help students who are having difficulties. Michael also recognizes other students by filling out Mensch of the Month cards and as he works in class, he is a role model for others.

Eighth Grade

Rose Cohen was nominated by several students and faculty. Completely on her own, she spent hours editing and filming a video that documented the sukkah project. Rose also has an amazing collection of markers and supplies, and she is always ready and willing to share with her classmates. Rose is a bubble of energy and joy and you can always count on her to put a smile on your face when you feel blue.

Teacher

Mr. Blumin is a mensch this month! He worked tirelessly on the sukkah project for the 8th grade- the project spanned not just the laws of sukkot but also taught our students cooperation, resilience, and hard work. Mr. Blumin also helped Morah Hadasa without a blink of an eye. He covered all her classes when she was out sick and we thank him so much for all that he contributes to the middle school.

December

Sixth Grade

Arthur Stadlin was nominated by several of his classmates this month. He always helps people with their math homework, even if he isn’t in the same math class! He helped another student with some Judaic Studies work and during advisory, his peers regularly seek him out for assistance. Arthur never turns anyone away when they need his help and is patient and kind. He is a mensch!

Seventh Grade

Kobi Einhorn can always be counted on to do the right thing. Kobi leads birkamazon when students are working through lunch in the advisory classroom, enthusiastically. We can always count on Kobi to lend a hand, whether it be putting up chairs, cleaning the hallway, or helping his peers with classwork and homework. His smiling face adds to the joy in the middle school this year. He is truly a mensch!

Eighth Grade

Ilan Amkraut was nominated multiple times for his effort in organizing a class outing to see Bethy and Rose in their production of The Wizard of Oz. Ilan was inclusive to each 8th grader, he made sure everyone had a ride to the restaurant, and he arranged transportation for the 8th grade students from the outing to Fairmount Temple. Ilan made reservations and even invited the shin shins who had a great time. Being inclusive and putting words into action are traits of a mensch.

Teacher

Mrs. Ebner was nominated not only by a student in our hallway but by a teacher from the lower school. One student wrote that Mrs. Ebner ordered a snack for the 6th grade! A teacher from the lower school wrote that Mrs. Ebner took time out of her scheduled teaching to help the second grade learn more about the election process. We are lucky to have Mrs. Ebner on our middle school staff!
