Week in Review – October 18, 2019We had an amazing Sukkah Fall Fest last night! Thank you to all our families who came and enjoyed a true fall spectacular. The SPA organization and especially Mia Euton-Goldstein did an incredible job planning, setting up and organizing another wonderful Gross Schechter event. Mia was also influential in making the weather cooperate! Our students had the opportunity to listen to a Story about Sukkot by Rabbi Berger, play various games, sing around the campfire with Sheri Gross and Rabbi Ben, participate in making craft projects, enjoy a hay ride, eat donuts and drink apple cider.
We encourage you to come into the building and check out the various student projects that are displayed throughout the school. In the main hallway we have a beautiful ceramic project display. We recently installed new shelving and we are excited to display artwork created by our talented students. We moved the display case to the Merkaz hallway and we have an amazing display of origami figures that were created by our middle school students during their Academy elective. In the large display case adjacent to the gymnasium, you can see our athletic team trophies as well as a unique display of our annual “Weird Sukkah Project” presented by Rabbi Ben’s 6th grade Judaics Class. Students are challenged to create the strangest, yet kosher, Sukkah. In the main hallway you can view the 2nd grade Owl Projects as well as various drawings and creative visual projects by our students.
These projects are great examples of Gross Schechter’s Four Pillars; Knowledge, Skills, Creativity and Joy. Our students base their projects on the knowledge that they gain each day, they show their skill in developing their project, they use their creativity when designing and completing their project and most important they feel joy when the projects are displayed and viewed by others in the school. Please come in and take a stroll through the halls to feel the joy of our student projects.
Please note: progress reports have been posted to the parent portal.
