At Gross Schechter, one of our core values is Btzelem Elokim, where we value the uniqueness of each individual and instill the concept of Shmirat Ha’guf, where health and wellness is a priority. To that end, our students receive physical education four times a week and have a range of after-school sports to choose from including:
All of our students, from our Early Childhood Center through our Middle School have daily physical activity. We have indoor gross motor equipment for our youngest students, a state of the art gymnasium utilized by all students and phenomenal outdoor fields and playgrounds.
Our students in Kindergarten through Eighth grade have physical education classes four times a week, totaling 160 minutes, which is much higher than the State of Ohio average of 70 minutes weekly.
We have a special after-school sports program for our students in Kindergarten through Fifth grade that provides instruction and technique in a multitude of sports including: baseball, soccer, basketball, football and more!
The after-school sports program is twice a week right after the school day concludes.
Lower school students are also eligible for club sports including Tae Kwon Do and Yoga.
For our middle school students, we offer three different after-school team sports that practice and compete in a league with other area independent schools.
- Soccer – co-ed
- Basketball – separate boys’ and girls’ teams
- Ultimate Frisbee – co-ed
