Gross Schechter Day School Annual Report

2015-2016

With pleasure, we report the outstanding achievements of the 2015-2016 academic year in the Annual Report for fiscal year ending June 30, 2016.  Due to the generous support of our donors, the excellence of our faculty, the engagement of our community and strength of our administration, our students experienced a tremendous year of growth and academic success.

Below, you will read about several of the academic highlights, see graphs that illustrate fundraising revenues, learn an overview of our new strategic plan and, to close, view our Donor Honor Roll listing all those who supported our efforts last year.graduates

Let’s begin with our most exciting achievements.

*We exceeded our budgeted fundraising goal by nearly $60,000 and raised over $1 million for the second year in a row.

*Our students won regional awards in science, creative writing and art. They placed in the top 10% of middle school students nationally in Broadcom MASTERS (Math, Applied Science, Technology and Engineering Rising Stars) awards, advanced to the state levels of the Northeast Ohio Science Fair and Power of the Pen competition, a state-wide competition involving over 500 schools, and won awards in Jewish community art contests.

*We celebrated one full year of our new Infant Care Center, which is currently filled to capacity with a growing wait list.

*We completed a strategic planning process and unveiled a three year plan that will guide us in the areas of educational excellence, identity and values, financial stability, community and governance (see below).

And there’s more…

*Schechter was one of 35 schools nationally that was selected to participate in a new STEM curriculum through CIJE (Center for Jewish Initiatives), that focused on learning first-hand about the role of engineers in society.

*Schechter was selected by the Dominion Foundation as one of 150 schools (from over 400 institutions) to receive funding for a special program for students in our lower and middle school exploring wind turbines.

*Schechter’s enrollment increased from 213 to 232 students between the first and last day of school (not including our Infant Care Program).DSC07608_edited

*We undertook a fresh redesign of our website and marketing pieces, yielding a 97% increase in our web traffic.

*Schechter raised $20,000 to date for a new educational garden on our campus that will become a place for study, prayer and community programming. We will break ground before the new school year begins.

It is only with your help and the help of hundreds of others that Gross Schechter Day School is able to provide an excellent education that changes lives, enhances our communities and strengthens the Jewish People.

Thank you for supporting our mission, our students and the kind of future that our students and graduates strive to achieve.

Sincerely,
